Ashley Scotland Founder
Passionate, tenacious and resilient, Ashley has a background in Psychology and the unique insight and skill set relevant to Thriving Survivors. A survivor herself, founder Ashley Scotland came to realise that the crucial support that was needed was not available, by using her own life experience and extensive knowledge of how trauma impacts on everyday life she launched Thriving Survivors Ltd.
Paul Rooney Chair Paul is an accomplished transformational executive, non-executive and business graduate with over fifteen years’ experience of successful delivery in strategic leadership and senior management roles. Paul’s commitment to provide support and advocacy is demonstrated by a career that includes service as a procurator fiscal depute, charity trustee and elected politician. As City Treasurer of Glasgow City Council his investigations into Pay Day Lending and Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs) are recognised as the first studies of their kind in the UK. Paul was recently awarded a MBA with Distinction by University of Strathclyde Business School.
David Sinclair Company Director
David is a well known newspaper journalist and media figure. He was Assistant Editor (Business) of The Herald, and left that role 11 years ago to head up lobbying, communications and media issues for Victim Support Scotland, a national charity. Then he become the founder Board member of Thriving Survivors with the remit of recruiting other Board members and handling all media and communications matters.
Susan Mallinder Chair and Company Director
Susan is a communications consultant who leads and delivers strategic communications for companies going through change. She works across many industries, mainly in financial services, and has a passion for helping victims to rebuild their lives. Having also supported the charity sector for over 10 years, and being part of a family bereaved through murder, Susan knows firsthand that there is not enough support for people who suffer trauma. Susan brings to Thriving Survivors an understanding of what it is to be a victim and a survivor, as well as her years of experience of business and running a charity for victims. She is currently finishing her MSc in Mindfulness with her thesis subject being helping people who have suffered trauma to rebuild their lives.
