Thriving Survivors is a Glasgow based organisation dedicated to supporting survivors at every stage of their healing journey. We provide trauma informed services that centre lived experience,  safety, trust, and empowerment.


The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, trauma informed Mentor to provide relational support to survivors at the beginning of their healing journey. This role values lived experience as a source of strength and connection.


Key Responsibilities

·       Build safe, respectful, and non judgmental mentoring relationships grounded in empathy and shared experience.

·       Offer strengths based emotional support that promotes resilience, self worth, and hope.

·       Encourage survivors to explore services and community resources at their own pace.

·       Model healthy boundaries and self care practices.

·       Collaborate with the wider Thriving Survivors team to ensure continuity of care and smooth transitions to Stage 2.

·       Maintain accurate, confidential records and engage in reflective practice.

·       Complete onboarding forms and evaluations at key milestones

·       Use Teams diary for scheduling and reminders.

Essential Skills & Experience

·       Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust

·       Understanding of trauma informed practice

·       Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality

·       Lived experience of trauma or recovery (desirable)


Salary: £13.50 per hour.

Hours: Part Time – 12 – 20 hours

Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Build Trusting Relationships

o      Establish safe, respectful and non-judgmental mentoring relationships grounded in empathy and shared experience.

o      Create a consistent and reliable presence for survivors, offering emotional safety and predictability.

·       Provide Emotional Support

o      Offer strengths based, validating support that promotes resilience, self-worth and hope.

o      Respond to emotional distress with compassion and grounding techniques while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

·       Facilitate Engagement

o      Encourage survivors to explore services, community resources and opportunities at their own pace.

o      Support survivors in identifying personal goals and navigating barriers to engagement.

·       Model Boundaries and Self Care

o      Demonstrate healthy boundaries, emotional regulation and self care practices.

o      Support survivors in developing their own strategies for wellbeing and resilience.

·       Collaborate with Staff and Services

o      Work closely with the wider Thriving Survivors team to ensure continuity of care and smooth transitions to Stage 2.

o      Attend team meetings, reflective practice sessions and supervision to ensure integrated support.

·       Maintain Records and Reflective Practice

o      Keep accurate, confidential records of mentoring sessions and progress.

o      Engage in regular supervision and reflective practice to support personal and professional development.

·       Data Collection & Documentation

o      Complete all onboarding forms, including Next of Kin, GP details, EDI form and initial evaluation.

o      Conduct and document:

§     Week 10 Progress Check (informal check-in)

§     Week 15 Readiness Assessment (using internal template)

§     Week 18 Exit Evaluation

o      Use the Teams diary to log appointments and set reminders for key milestones.

o      Follow up on missing or incomplete information within one week.

o      Store all documentation securely in our Thriving Survivors M365 system.
